| What role does UTI Bank play in Remit2India? |
UTI Bank undertakes the money transfer activity for your
transactions. Which means, the money you send is managed entirely
by UTI Bank, from clearing your checks or receiving your wire transfers
to converting your funds to Indian Rupees and issuing the Demand
Draft in favor of the beneficiary or directly depositing into the
bank account. TimesofMoney provides the technology platform, which
makes the information tracking possible.
As a result, if your beneficiary has an account with UTI Bank, the
process is speeded up by virtue of a Direct Deposit to your beneficiary's
account rather than dispatch of a Demand Draft. This Direct Deposit
facility is also available for 53
other banks in India.
|
Top
|
| Is the money sent through Remit2India taxable
for my beneficiary? |
No. This money is income earned by you overseas, and you
have already paid taxes there. Your beneficiary need not pay tax
on this money again once it is remitted to India.
|
Top
|
| How is Remit2India better than alternate modes
of remitting money to India? |
Remit2India charges you a very low transaction fee. This
is the only fee you pay, and there are no hidden charges. Compare
this with competitors who send the money to your beneficiary net
of courier and Demand Draft charges. Or with traditional ways of
sending money home, such as buying Demand Drafts (which involves
the trouble of going to your bankers and delay in the mail) or sending
a foreign currency check (which can take several weeks to clear).
What's more, you can have the money directly deposited in accounts
with 54 banks across the country.

|
| What is the exchange rate applied on my remittance? |
The exchange rate will be based on the prevailing rate at the time of converting your funds to Indian Rupees. The rate that is shown to you at the time of booking the remittance, on the online calculator, is only an indicative rate, which can help you arrive at the approximate US/Canadian Dollar, Pound Sterling, Japanese Yen,Arab Emirate Dirham Euro, Singapore Dollar or Australian Dollar amount that you should send. However, the rate shown on the calculator on any day is the actual rate that has been used for all remittances for which funds have been dispatched on that day.
|
Top
|
| Why is the exchange rate applied on my remittance
different from what is available with Newswires and websites such
as Economic Times Online? |
The newswires and online information services like The
Economic Times Online provide currency exchange rate information
that is based on transactions of high volume between banks. While
the market exchange rate as reported in such services may be a certain
rate, customer transactions are seldom processed at that rate by
these services. Given this scenario, we ensure that our rates are
better than most similar remittance services.

Using
Remit2India efficiently : |
|
| |
| What should I do to ensure that my remittance goes
through without a problem? |
There are a few things you should keep in mind to ensure
that your money reaches your beneficiary without a problem:
|
- Ensure all your contact details on your registration with
us are correct to the last detail. This will help us get in
touch with you the moment there is a problem with your transaction.
- Enter the details of your beneficiary accurately. If you know
the bank account details of your beneficiary, enter them in
your address book. This is an added security feature towards
ensuring the funds reach your beneficiary in a speedy and safe
manner. If your beneficiary has an account with UTI Bank or
53
other top banks in India, the funds will directly be deposited
to your beneficiary's account.
- If you choose to use a check, be sure to accurately quote
your Remittance Reference Number in the memo area on your check,
and always attach a copy of the invoice while mailing the check
to us.
- Make sure that you choose the best location for your beneficiary's
DD to be payable at. If you are not sure, check with your beneficiary
before you make the remittance.
- If you have chosen to mail a check, make sure your check is
made exactly to the amount that you entered on the Remit2India
website while making the remittance request.
If you are making a wire transfer, ensure you print the wire
transfer instruction shown to you during the transaction and
give it to your bank to effect the payment.

|
| What is the Remittance Reference Number? |
The Remittance Reference Number is the unique number
displayed on your screen at the time of booking your remittance.
This is a vital piece of information that is used by us to track
your funds, and is equally important for you for tracking purposes,
future enquiries and maintaining your online tracker.
If you are writing a check to UTI Bank, you must remember to write
this in the memo area of your check before mailing the check to
us.
If you are sending a wire transfer into UTI Bank's account, you
will need to ensure that this is clearly legible on your wire transfer
instruction printout to your bank.
You can see the status of your remittance at any time by clicking
on the Remittance Reference Number in your Online Tracker.
|
Top
|
| Why do I have to write the Remittance Reference
Number on the memo area of the check? |
The Remittance Reference Number helps us identify your
check and process your remittance accurately and expeditiously.
It differentiates your remittance from other remittances.

|
| I don't have a printer to print the Confirmation
of Remittance Instruction Page. Can I still use Remit2India? |
We ask you to enclose a print out of the Confirmation
of Remittance Instruction Page with your check only as an additional
way to track your funds. If you have remembered to write your unique
Remittance Reference Number in the memo area of your check, we can
still process your remittance. However, in the UK, you would need
to attach the Confirmation of Remittance Instruction Page with the
check. So unless you are remitting from the UK, go ahead and use
Remit2India without worrying about printing the Confirmation of
Remittance Instruction Page. Do note that if you have chosen to
send money through a wire transfer, you will definitely need to
print this page to give to your bank, so that they will be able
to send your funds to UTI Bank.

post, as they do not deliver to P.O.Boxes.
